My career in 2D 3D animation
In 1991, after my military service.I got into animation industry to be an animator assistant in Wang Film Productions in Taipei.One year later, I passed the animator examination to be promoted.

It isn't easy. New animators should be trained for two years in regular production pipeline under directors' supervision.
We took basic animation lessons every day in the first three months. In privacy, we always collect books, documents and VHS tapes to study animation. The most important method is consistently playing the VHS to learn character's posing, timing, spacing frame by frame. Then try to draw them. If we got test scenes to work. When the rough sheets were finished.The pencil test is next step. It helps us to confirm the animation.

現在的"學習"不愁沒資源，反而是"過多"而無所適從，得先"篩選"。
30年前土法煉鋼的年代，animator對於角色動作的訓練與製作(動物走路cycle為例)，獲得資料的管道只有幾種：
1:影印....cycle動作的紙本資料，最常見到"側視圖"。
2:書籍....例如幾本高速攝影做成的動物動作。
3:錄影帶....飛梭錄影機，單格播放錄影帶(雜訊多)，俗稱"抄帶子"。
後來有了VCD和DVD，單格播放無雜訊，再來是電腦科技，技術資源的取得好方便，例如Youtube就是寶庫，大量的影片可以研究，對artist而言，非常幸福。
另一個小確幸，就是"立即播放"，早期在宏廣當2D animator，畫了一大疊動作稿，翻閱能看個大概，最好一張張拍成pencil test錄影帶，才能正確檢視動作與Timing。
現在的2D或3D動畫軟體，都能立即播放，檢視動態，3D更可以轉不同角度，超級方便。

Taipei is my hometown.
I lived in Taipei for 50 years. Half century. The wonderful city is growing with me.
